Syntax Edit

"growthRate": integer

Description Edit

The growthRate of a plant measures the percentage chance it will increase by 1 metadata level on any given block update, assuming the plant has not yet reached maxGrowth.

Internally, the growthRate is converted into a "one in X" probability throw. This means is that instead of a straight percentage chance, certain values actually have no distinctiveness against other values. For instance, a growthRate of 45 and a growthRate of 50 will both have the same actual probability: 1 in 2 (50%). This means there are only 19 possible probabilities to choose from:

Probability growthRate Effective Probability
1 in 100 1 1%
1 in 50 2 2%
1 in 33 3 3%
1 in 25 4 4%
1 in 20 5 5%
1 in 16 6 6.3%
1 in 14 7 7.1%
1 in 12 8 8.3%
1 in 11 9 9.1%
1 in 10 10 10%
1 in 9 11 11.1%
1 in 8 12 12.5%
1 in 7 13-14 14.3%
1 in 6 15-16 16.6%
1 in 5 17-20 20%
1 in 4 21-25 25%
1 in 3 26-33 33.3%
1 in 2 34-50 50%
1 in 1 51-100 100%

Example Edit

"growthRate": 20

There is a 1 in 5 chance of this plant increasing its metadata by 1 level every growth update.
